Sometimes things get discussed to no end. And then when it&#39;s finally time to actually do it. But there is too much inertia at some levels. <br /><br />And there are so many people ready to pick it up.<br /><br />There are teams to work on proper ruby on rails support. The problem some packages are not in the repo&#39;s is because nobody is bothering packing them. The reason some patches aren&#39;t applied is because nobody is making a new package with the patch applied.<br /><br />What a bunch of nonsense.<br /><br />The problem is the same as always.<br />The people that have the power to actually PUT a package in the repository are too busy partying on conventions or blogging about their life.<br /><br />It&#39;s nearly impossible for a contributor to help with patches or packages. That&#39;s why so few (like me) never even try.<br /><br />I mean, take a site like playdeb. <br />You do realize those guys applied for MOTU status? <br /><br />Something is deeply inherently wrong with how the ubuntu &#39;elite&#39; acts towards contributors.<br /><br />Hell, if you can solve THAT problem. I&#39;ll pay you 50 dollar.<br /><br />From bugs with patches attached that just don&#39;t get fixed. From bugs where the problem is a known build dependency that is missing.
